no one ever drowned in sweat!

-= hills don’t go away they wait! =-

Running is a great way to get fit, feel better and even form new relationships with other runners. Starting a new running habit doesn’t have to be hard, all it takes is a comfortable pair of shoes and a willingness to move a little or a lot, all at your own pace. But, many newcomers to running become discouraged by the difficulty associated with the activity because they start too fast and push too hard. Their bodies push back and they end up resenting running.

From my own experience I know how nice and good running is (and what the pitfalls are) and I want to give you this experience as well! It also happened to me: injuries, no progression and lack of motivation. All reasons to stop with the cool running sport. It is my mission to help you become a complete and lasting runner. I do this by sharing my experience and knowledge so you can continue learning to become a technically better, stronger and faster runner.

NatuurlijkSportief Ireland offers courses for super-new and seasoned runners tackling 5K, 10K, and half-marathon runs. We also offer 1-on-1 coaching for the marathon. No matter what distance you choose, you’ll get our trademark inspiring course content, vibrant forums and expert coaching!!

Tough

This is a great way to get fit. It's like the French Foreign Legion have invaded Old Head woods and beach under the leadership of a crazy Dutch man.

Great Trainer

"Great results! After a few months with Michel I am stronger, faster and leaner. He is a great motivator, really knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. I have made great progress towards my goals and that's thanks to Michel. He has also been proactive, heading off an injury I was nursing/cultivating, and responsive, adapting sessions and schedules to fit in with life as it happens. A really positive experience!"

Great fun

Michael is great fun. Inventive ideas using the environment to add to a scenic run. From Spiderman crawls on beach boulders to relay racing zig zagging and passing rocks to each other. An hour flew by and the body felt exercised but without any of the usual exercise boredom. Smiles all round! Thanks Michael. - Marcas Ó Bogáin

Love this!

Love this! I've been doing it since it started, and I can honestly say that getting fit has never been more fun! It feels more like play than exercise, and it's a great start to the weekend. Regardless of the weather (which can sometimes be part of the challenge!) it's great to be on the beach first thing in the morning and getting the adrenline pumping and the seratonin jumping! I'm overweight, and was very unfit when I started, but I was able to take it at my own pace and I'm delighted at how much my fitness has improved since then. Would highly recommend it. And Michel really does take a personal interest in everybody, and genuinely allows for all levels of fitness. A great trainer.

Natuurlijksportief has everything

When I saw this advertised I thought I had to give it a shot. I turned up to Old Head on Thursday evening not knowing what to expect. We met Michel in the car park and had a quick chat. Michel looked like he could run all day. The adrenaline kicked in with anticipation. I was glad to start running down to the beach to burn off some of that adrenaline. Our first drill or exercise was a one on one tug of war, with heels dug into the sand it was a tough one, lung burn, pumped arms and burning thighs. We jogged on, we crawled up the steps to the head land, wheel barrowed across the marsh( push ups as a break from wheel barrow). There are no linear robotic movement's like you might find in the gym. It is dynamic and fast. It works your balance, strength, cardio and your grey matter. For me Natuurlijksportief has everything. Good people and fun, very tough physical exercise no matter what your level of fitness, beautiful surroundings and such a varied array of challenges. Get out there and try it, you will not be disappointed. Back at the car park you will be wet, dirty and tired but challenged, exhilarated and stronger.

Go outside and run. Now. The best way to start running is simply to put on a pair of running shoes and hit the pavement, dirt or grass. The motion of running will feel strange at first, as muscles that normally don’t get much use spring into awkward action. This is normal. Run until your legs are burning and your chest is heaving; for true beginners, that usually occurs after about 5-10 minutes.

  1. When you’re just starting out, you don’t need fancy running shoes. An old pair of sneakers will do. Once you know you want to continue the sport, you can upgrade.
  2. Run in comfortable clothes. Put on gym shorts, a t-shirt, and a sports bra if necessary. Don’t wear anything too constricting.
  3. Run anywhere. Your neighborhood, in a park, up and down your driveway, on the local track at a school. One of the best things about running as a sport is that you can do it almost anywhere, and you’re not chained to a gym.
